Summary
This flexible course accommodates IT professionals who have a minimum of two years’ experience in management and is an ideal qualification for those seeking to enhance their career opportunities in IT management at a strategic level. The course offers a choice of options, enabling you to create a programme to suit your individual interests or to meet employers’ needs. The course investigates the strategic role of information systems and IT as well as applied IT strategic planning. Our postgraduate courses will be taught in block mode, which supports both full and part-time study. Each module will consist of a reading period, during which you will be expected to carry out some preliminary work. This is followed by three days (Thursday, Friday, Saturday) at the Telford Campus where formal teaching will take place. This will be followed by an assessment period when you can complete your coursework. If your first degree is not a computing-related subject, you have the opportunity to study for a Postgraduate Certificate in this subject. Successful completion of the PGCert will allow you to progress onto the full postgraduate Master of Science (MSc) course.
Future prospects
Graduates from this award could expect to progress to more senior management roles in Strategic IT Management.
Entry requirements
MSc Strategic Information Technology Management is a specialist course. A core requirement to access this course is that you must have at least two years’ relevant work experience in a management role. If you have a good first honours degree (typically 2:2 or equivalent) you may register for the Masters course. Students with a Third Class honours or equivalent may register for a Postgraduate Certificate and if successful, may then transfer to a higher award. English competency is the standard for MSc entry: IELTS 6.0.
