Course aims
- We are currently the only higher education institute offering a Foundation Degree in Auctioneering and Valuation. As such, this award offers a rare opportunity to study two highly specialised disciplines and gain a recognised academic qualification
- To reflect the national significance of this new award, the course content will be delivered in weekend blocks at national locations, supported by all the resources of our first class, modern University
- Next start date: February 2010
Career and employability
- The primary career opportunities exist in estate agents and auctioneers, but employers will also include local authorities, central government and blue-chip clients including major high street companies, developers, housing associations, building societies and other financial institutions, and the property and estates departments of retail and commercial organisations.
- The course is developed and supported by the National Association of Valuers and Auctioneers (NAVA) and the National Association of Estate Agents (NAEA), who represent a number of property professionals specialising in auctioneering and valuation. Your qualification will therefore be recognised and valued by these professional organisations.
- Successful completion of this course will provide an academic qualification to back up and develop your existing knowledge in this business sector. This Foundation Degree will enable you to achieve direct entry into the final year of at least one related BSc (Hons) Degree with other opportunities for second year entry on to degrees with professional body accreditation.
What will I study?
- As you progress through this Foundation Degree, you will acquire the vocational skills identified by the National Association of Valuers and Auctioneers (NAVA) and the National Association of Estate Agents (NAEA). Our close consultation with these organisations ensures that your studies will give you a professional’s viewpoint of the industry, and a range of skills which meet the expectations of your current and future employers.
- Subject specific modules will explore the mandatory principles, laws and regulations relating to auctioneering and valuation. You will learn to apply these correctly to resolve problems encountered within auctioneering and to provide reasoned advice on auctioneering concepts such as transactions, management and valuation. Upon successful completion of the award, you will have acquired a distinct skill-set which exactly meets the demands of your chosen career in property and real estate.
